MY FIRST HOME

Documentary short film, 18 min, 2022

Lola fell in love head over heels at a young age. It was a passionate, intense, and strong relationship, but it was also ruled by her boyfriend's devastating addiction to drugs. Still, to her, that was her first home. It took her many years of hard decisions to finally break loose. Change or die.

She took that journey by herself, and she invented her solo life from scratch. With an impressive presence and an appearance that defies whatever presumptions people might have about the look of a woman in her sixties, she's queen of her empire. 14 colorful birds are cruising in the air in her own space and paradise where she shares all the treasures of clothes and glittering pearls that she has carefully collected over the years.

This is a story about love. The love that Lola had to escape from and that still defines her. And the love she found right here; for people, for animals, and for all the things she can't take her eyes off.
